So, how was December…?
December was a mixed month. Positives: the always excellent Thomas Walker has started work on the cover design for The Nice Guy and the Devil and an audiobook of The Forbidden Zone is finally available on Audible and Amazon.
Negative: I missed my self-imposed deadline of Christmas to get the first draft of TNGATD to beta readers. I’m still polishing it off, which is taking a bit longer than I anticipated.
Another positive: Christmas was great with our 18-month-old, although she did get a little over excited! I hope you had a great Christmas too.
So, how was 2022…?
It seems strange that The Florentine was only released back in May, because in many ways it feels like it has shifted me into a new phase of my writing career. Like the Marvel Cinematic Universe has it’s “phases”, The Florentine definitely marked the start of Phase 2 of my writing. For the time being, I can’t imagine writing anything other than Cain novels and have enough ideas for next couple of years (up to book 4).
None of my books have ever had pre-orders in triple figures, so for TNGATD to have over two hundred is really mind-boggling. I’m really excited to keep writing these books and nervous to find out what you think of TNGATD when you can finally read a copy.
Farewell from Revue
As predicted, the new Musk-run Twitter is shuttering Revue, so next month this newsletter will look different. I’ve not decided which service to use yet, so wait and see!
Until then, all the best, and here’s to a great 2023! 🍾🥳
